Looking back, Uffe´s year in the show ring 1998 still feels a bit unreal. So many judges from so many countries gave him top honours and spoke very highly about him. The support from the ringside was tremendous, I can very clearly recall the times when they gave us 100 percent through the Group- and Best In Show finals. Or when leaving the World Winners Show, passing a small restaurant and the guests gave him standing ovations to salute him. An also I remember the elderly lady at the parking place outside a show saying "Oh, is this the famous Uffe? I must say hallo to him, he is such a celebrity!"

He did come to Sweden at the right time. He was small, jet-black and he took the Scandinavian dog world with storm.

Three Finnish breed specialists started him off, Mr Rainer Vuorinen, Mr Johan Juslin and Mr Hans Lehtinen, the two last mentioned gave him the Group and Best In Show at Sandviken Int Show in September 1997, and that was just the beginning....
In Nov the same year he again went Best In Show under the Swedish all-round judge Mr Karl-Erik Johansson at Helsinki Int with over 6000 dogs entered. Between those he also got 2 Swedish Schnauzer/Pinscher Club Best In Shows, again under breed specialists, and BIS at the Miniature Schnauzer Club Speciality (CUP-97) under the Portuguese judge Mr Salvadore Janeiro. This speciality had an entry just over 100 Miniature Schnauzers. He ended 1997 going Group 2nd at the big Stockholm International. This made him Schnauzer/Pinscher Of The Year in 1997. This was his first year in Sweden. After winning BIS at Helsinki he was invited to the Champion of Champions competition in Finland in 1998. We accepted with joy and also entered to the show the day after. He won the Champion of Champions under the judges Mrs Ilona Onstenk-Shenk, Mr Alberth Wight and Swedish Schnauzer/Pinscher Specialist Mr Curt Cederskog and went on the next day winning the group under Spanish specialist Mr Angel Garach Domech and finally another Best In Show under breed specialist Mr Hans Lehtinen.

In 1998 there was also a special competition in Sweden, sponsored by a food company - The Eukanuba Cup.
First price was a trip to Cruft´s for two persons and you had to win five placings at different shows to get qualifying points that then were added together.
Uffe won this too, with a bit in hand, and we got our trip to Cruft´s! In 1999 Uffe was shown very limited, but still with top results. Six top placings in Group- and BIS-finals made him 3:rd in the Dog Of The Year competition, and once again he was Schnauzer/Pinscher Of The Year, third year running!

We are very proud and happy for having been fortunate to experience all this, and of course our main thoughts goes to Uffe´s breeder, Mr Cyriel de Meulenaer of the Havenstadt kennels in Belgium, that were confident enough to let us have him and for all his support during his career.

Also, our deepest thanks goes to all judges, ringside audience and colleagues in the breed for all the appreciation you have been showing us. It has given us very special feelings that are hard to describe in words.
